2nd Saturdays on Main is a special monthly event where the Durango Farmers Market moves to Main Ave! In partnership with the City of Durango and the Business Improvement District (BID), we’re piloting this program by relocating the market footprint to the 900–1100 blocks of Main Ave on the second Saturday from May - October.

This exciting move opens up new opportunities for community engagement, vendor participation, and downtown vibrancy.

A Pilot Program from the Durango Farmers Market

2nd Saturdays on Main

What is 2nd Saturdays on Main?

We believe Main Ave should be more than just a road—it should be a place where community thrives. This program is designed to:

  • Activate Main Ave as a public space for gathering and connection

  • Provide a larger, more accessible space for all of our vendors and guests

  • Create space for collaboration with local nonprofits and organizations

  • Highlight our regional food system and its importance to Durango

  • Support local agriculture and continue to grow community—the heart of our mission

Why Are We Doing This?

We’re thrilled to launch our brand-new education initiative:

Taste the Market: Guest Chef Program

Each Second Saturday, a local chef will lead a live cooking demonstration using fresh ingredients sourced directly from the market. Here’s what to expect:

  • A chef-led cooking demo highlighting seasonal market produce

  • Free bite-sized samples for attendees (300–500 servings!)

  • Printed recipe cards featuring the chef and local vendor ingredients

  • A chance to learn, taste, and connect through food

What’s New?

Main Avenue is closed to vehicles during all 2nd Saturdays on Main events from 5 AM–2 PM between 9th Street and 12th Street.

Additional closures include:
• 10th Street west of Main to Narrow Gauge Alley
• 11th Street west of Main to Narrow Gauge Alley

Getting downtown is easier than you think, and we highly encourage using alternative transportation when possible.

Free Park & Ride Option:
Park for free at the Durango Transit Center and ride the trolley downtown.

The trolley runs along 2nd Avenue and stops near 9th, 10th, and 11th Streets, making it one of the easiest ways to access the market without worrying about parking.

Additional Free Weekend Parking:
• City Lots 2, 3, and 4 along East 2nd Avenue
• TBK Bank has generously offered their lot for public parking during 2nd Saturdays on Main events

Please avoid parking in private lots such as Town Center or Crossroads Center.

Bike Parking:
Weather permitting, dedicated bike parking will be available inside the market closure area in the 1100 block of Main Avenue.

We encourage walking, biking, carpooling, and public transit whenever possible to help keep downtown accessible and enjoyable for everyone during the event.

  • Restrooms:

    • The Transit Center bathrooms will remain open

    • The Durango Welcome Center (8th & Main) restrooms are also available

    • Portopotties will be located near 10th and 11th Streets

Parking & Restrooms
