Our Mission
The mission of the Durango Farmers Market is to support agriculture and the local community of farmers and ranchers by providing a vibrant marketplace. Within this marketplace, we aim to support the growth of sustainable food networks and local small businesses, enhance access to education, and boost the local economy.
Who We Are
The Durango Farmers Market is a nonprofit organization serving the Four Corners region through markets, programs, and partnerships that strengthen local food systems and community connection.
While we are best known for our weekly farmers markets, our work extends beyond market days. We operate year-round programs that support farmers and food producers, increase access to fresh, local food, and create spaces for education, collaboration, and community gathering.
What Guides Our Work
Our decisions, programs, and policies are guided by the following values:
Support for Local Agriculture
We prioritize farmers, ranchers, and food producers who grow, raise, or harvest their products and contribute directly to a resilient regional food system.
Community Connection
We believe markets are more than places to shop — they are spaces where relationships are built, knowledge is shared, and community is strengthened.
Access & Inclusion
We work to increase access to fresh, local food and create welcoming spaces for all members of our community, including through food access programs and educational outreach.
Education & Stewardship
We support learning around food systems, sustainability, and small business development through demonstrations, programs, and partnerships.
Integrity & Transparency
As a nonprofit organization, we are committed to clear governance, fair processes, and accountability to our community, vendors, and partners.
